Basic information

Introduction
Jiuliao Canal is located in Gaoshu Township, Pingtung County.The earliest excavation began in the first year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1736).It is the most important irrigation artery in the area.Water sourced from Zhuokou Creek, a tributary of Laonong Creek.This underpins Gaoshu's reputation as the "Hometown of Taro".It is also famous for its high-quality jujubes, wax apples, pineapples, papayas and other agricultural products.To address the issues of increased sand content and unstable water supply caused by upstream landslides following Typhoon Morakot.The government has allocated NT$97.33 million to promote the "Strengthening Project of Storage and Regulation Facilities along the Jiuliao Canal Main Line".It was officially completed and put into use on May 4, 2025.This facility covers an area of ​​approximately 1.13 hectares.It has a water storage capacity of 25,500 tons.It combines functions of sedimentation, water quality improvement, and drought regulation.The irrigated area reached 2,470 hectares.Significantly improved the productivity and climate resilience of local agriculture
