Located in Zhutian Township, Pingtung County, the Middle Drain No. 6 in the Zhutian Land Consolidation Area covers a catchment area of 48 hectares. The improvement project highlights landscape integration and ecological sustainability. Its revetments feature a unique random stone-patterned surface, replacing traditional smooth concrete to blend seamlessly with the surrounding lush coconut groves, farmlands, and fish ponds.
A key characteristic of the design is the bottomless construction and the reuse of local materials, where recycled old masonry stones are laid on the channel bed to promote groundwater recharge and create a diverse aquatic habitat. With clear water reflecting the blue sky and silhouettes of palm trees, the once-dilapidated channel has been transformed into a scenic rural waterway that balances flood safety with natural aesthetics, earning a prestigious Grade A rating in construction audits.
